Does Dr. Paul crack? Does it hurt?
The Activator Methods Technique does not cause a “crack” to be heard with the adjustment. However, this does not mean that the joint is not being mobilized. As a matter of fact, it has been shown in recent studies to move the bones just as far (1.1mm) as other manual chiropractic techniques. But since there is no twisting or turning involved with an Activator adjustment, there is typically no pain stimuli triggered with the correction of your spinal misalignments.
On rare occasions the spine may need to be “cracked.” The traditional Diversified adjusting technique is still being used regularly by over 90% of the chiropractors today. Done properly, it is safe and effective and causes minimal discomfort for the patient. Dr. Paul has been thoroughly trained in this technique, as are all chiropractic students. However, in this office, it is not the preferred method of correction and will be used only as needed. Of course, you will always be given the opportunity to choose which technique you feel is best suited for your body.
How long are treatments?
The first visit consists of a thorough exam, evaluation and treatment and usually lasts about one hour. Subsequent treatments, if necessary, can last anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on your particular case.
How many treatments will I need?
The recurrence of treatments varies from case to case. Some folks are fixed up in one session, and some need ongoing care. Only you and Dr. Paul can determine the course of treatment that is necessary for you.
Do you take insurance for chiropractic treatments?
For each chiropractic treatment you receive, the fee is paid by you at the time of service. Upon request, we will provide you with a “super bill” that you can send to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is your responsibility to check with your insurance company before you receive treatment, to make sure they will reimburse you.
Can I receive chiropractic adjustments if I’m pregnant?
